"Women in the field of journalism in Swat valley is highly discouraged by men as they consider the field fit only for men because of cultural and traditional bonds. Breaking the barriers and bonds in Pakhtun society, I motivated my parents and took admission in the University of Swat to study Mass communication and Journalism and passed it with flare. Immediately after my studies I started to pursue my mission of covering women issues in the local and national media. Being the first professional female journalist in Swat valley I face several issues to go outside and investigate stories and case studies, however, with strong determination I am successful to identify and cover the stories regarding women in the local and national media. Today, I am proud to serve women in the men- dominated society by highlighting their issues and violations occur with them. I am happy to share that I grabbed second position on a story in the country for highlighting an issue of child marriage. I have also achieved award on my photography and the award of being first woman journalist in Swat."
