These five students are from LUMS a very well-known University of Pakistan. These teenagers are role models for all of us. For politicians, For philosophers, For every Pakistani. As these teenagers wanted a change. They thought they could bring a change in OUR nation.
Their story is as they describe below. It all started when one of the co-founder of Roshnai Foundation, got approached by a guard at Lums, who needed help with the funding of his children's education.That was the moment when we could not help but ask ourselves that why do we have to wait for a solution when we can be a part of it . We circulated the message amongst our friends and families and within two days we were able to raise money to fund the children. The names of these amazing people are Qasim Awan, Mehreen Imran, Faiza Tariq Sheikh, Minahil Rashad and last but not least Mr. Ali Kakvi. These five people are reamarkable talented. They have proved that you don't need to study to make change.
That was the day when we realized that while we study at ease at one of the most expensive institution of Pakistan, there are millions of children out there who are deprived of the basic privilege to education just because their parents can't afford to send them to schools. This inspired us to get out of our comfort zones and do something for our fellow Pakistanis and play a part in the nation building as a whole. We believe that access to basic education is the right of each individual and not a privilege and we are here to fight this battle for quality education, education that truly liberates.
Currently at the launch of Roshnai Foundation we fully funding 15 children in Lahore and Faisalabad, while we envision making education accessible for those who have been deprived and build upon their public speaking skills. Who knows a child we send to school might be the next Foreign secretary of Pakistan, who knows a child we send to school might be the next CEO of Microsoft.
As Benjamin Franklin once said, "An investment in knowledge pays the best interest." Come Support Roshnai in the quest of spreading education to every corner of Pakistan.
