A young Pathan girl who helps her father make coal in big mud houses. her job is to gather barks of trees and shrubs, tie them in bundles and carry them on her head.
One by one she lines the insides of these mud abodes and rushes to get more wood to line the others. The mud houses are sealed with clay and the wood barks inside are roasted in a fire for four days.
Covered in soot with a patli voice: "Bus chaar panch din k baad nikalne mein mushkil hoti hai. Garam hota hai na."
I looked at F when she said that and we were completely stunned.
SubhanAllah we couldn't even stand next to a mud abode that was being emptied and had been opened for a few hours because it was so hot.
