I grew up in a big family that lived in a very small house. My father could only afford to send his children to “Peela Schools” (government schools) and we all used to study cramped together in one room. At the age of 12, while I was still studying, I also started working in order to support my family. In later years, when I was studying for a professional accounting qualification, I had difficulty understanding some concepts. I realized I needed to re-visit basics of mathematics because I had not received a good quality education in early life. So, in my twenties, I went to a book store and purchased math course books from grade 1 to O’levels! I studied mathematics from scratch to ensure I do not have problems understanding complex concepts ever again.
Today, at about the age of 50, I hold various certifications, degrees and memberships of different local and international professional bodies and universities and have also published a few conference papers. I have found my true calling in being an educationist and mentor in the fields of Accounting, Finance and Economics. I work in the Middle East as Head of Department for a regional university; visit many local and Middle Eastern seminars and conferences as a guest speaker; all in addition to being the founder of my own educational institution in Pakistan.
