"I am 18 years old and am a graffiti artist. Shukar Alhamdulillah, I didn't take any art classes to learn what I do, I let my love for art take me where it wants to. When I was 8, I started drawing pencil sketches of faces, but my parents guided me that drawing faces is a sin, so to fulfill my penchant for art, I started making tribal tattoos on paper. I have always loved street art but didn't witness it much in Pakistan, so I was pleasantly surprised when a graffiti artist from Karachi contacted me through my Facebook page and guided me to the world of graffiti art in 2013. I love it! This art is done on streets (walls) mostly, with the medium of spray cans, oil paints etc but due to unavailability of good graffiti material in Pakistan, we use local spray paints. I am the first Pakistani female graffiti artist work under the name of MIRCH- women in our country are not usually encouraged to do this kind of art but my parents fully support me and my father accompanies me to every project. I have worked on many walls since then; my first wall graffiti was in Karachi University, but the one I am most proud of was the one in CBM University for a street cleaning project. My plans are to take this graffiti art to the next level where artists like me are appreciated. There is a lot of talent in Pakistan but we need support and encouragement from our people. I would urge all the people who love art in its different forms to pursue their passion. Pakistan has a lot of talent; it just needs to be appreciated, rather than ridiculed! Girls can work in any profession they like, but only one thing that is to be the cherry on the top is wearing "Hijaab" and following the teachings of Islam. I was called as a motivational speaker by Rising youth Karachi on 19 Sep, where I conducted a speech to young girls to join any field they love with the proper following of the teaching in Islam."
